A Film and Live Music Show
Rare NYC Street Footage (1980s–90s) with a live musical performance.
By Marc S. Friedlander*
Featuring Nancye Good and E. Paul DimartinoA meditation on what survives—
and the memories we carry.
Night Light
is a live audiovisual performance
built around rare,
firsthand,
NYC street footage from the 1980s and 90s,
A time capsule of a vanished city.
Presented with a dark, atmospheric live score,
the work captures
fleeting moments—
homelessness and glamour,
grit and magic—
woven into a dreamlike portrait of New York.
Shot and edited over decades,
the footage has been described as
“haunted but beautiful,”
evoking a surreal quiet.
A dark thread runs through it all—
yet it still carries a strange grace.
The material includes appearances by,Dennis Hopper, Rudolph Giuliani, Leigh Bowery,Jim Jarmusch,
Dean Johnson, Yoko Ono, Rockets Redglare,
Iggy Pop, Michael Alig, Lady Miss Kier,
Bob Guccione, Matthew Courtney and Donald Trump,
and others from that era.
